What is BPF

What is the Black Policy Foundation?
The BPF exists to align community organizations so we all can advocate for public policies that help Black people. This work includes engaging policy makers and elected officials on behalf of the Black community.

What will the Foundation do?
The BPF will do relationship-building and organizing work to:

• By reaching out to existing organizations and leaders and seeking their help to enact specific policy proposals on education and justice.
• Researching legislative proposals that affect the Black community, developing positions on those proposals, and sharing these positions widely.
• Promoting research and analysis on policy topics important to Black people.
• Hosting events and creating communication vehicles that help Black people effectively build relationships with legislators and other policy makers.

How does the Foundation plan to “align” and “unify” existing organizations?
The BPF will promote unity and alignment by:

• Approaching various organizations and advocates and seeking their support to develop and implement public policies to help Black people.
• Serving as a liaison between and among various organizations in the Black community and in various issue advocacy communities.
• Raising money and hiring staff to convene and maintain liaison work among community organizations and advocates.
